Falls among older Australians remain a common health problem, with 30% of people aged over 65 falling each year, and hospitalisation rates for falls continuing to increase by almost 3% each year. All health professionals have important roles in falls prevention, firstly specific to their disciplinary role, and secondly, to identify when older patients being seen require additional referral or education regarding their risk of falling. This webinar will discuss the most common risk factors for falling, screening and assessment processes to determine falls risk, and provide a review of evidence based interventions for older people living in the community.
