Plantar heel pain is a common and persistent cause of foot pain that affects a wide range of individuals. Emerging evidence of intrinsic foot muscle deficits associated with plantar heel pain, along with enhanced understanding of the role of the intrinsic foot muscles, suggests that this may be an important component in management of the condition.

In this webinar Dr Melinda Smith (PhD, BPhty (Hons)) a Physiotherapist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of Queenslandwill discuss new developments in our understanding of the intrinsic foot muscles, including the advanced imaging techniques that she has established, using high-field 7T magnetic resonance imaging. Case examples will illustrate how health practitioners can use this knowledge in clinical decision making when managing patients with plantar heel pain, with a specific focus on selection and progression of exercise interventions targeting the foot muscles.

As this is a recorded webinar, no CPD certificate will be issued for attendance. However you are encouraged to take your own notes and allocate to another self learning category in your CPD log.
