Plantar heel pain is a common and persistent cause of foot pain that affects a wide range of individuals. Emerging evidence of intrinsic foot muscle deficits associated with plantar heel pain, along with enhanced understanding of the role of the intrinsic foot muscles, suggests that this may be an important component in management of the condition.

In this webinar Dr Melinda Smith (PhD, BPhty (Hons)) a Physiotherapist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of Queenslandwill discuss new developments in our understanding of the intrinsic foot muscles, including the advanced imaging techniques that she has established, using high-field 7T magnetic resonance imaging. Case examples will illustrate how health practitioners can use this knowledge in clinical decision making when managing patients with plantar heel pain, with a specific focus on selection and progression of exercise interventions targeting the foot muscles.

As this is a recorded webinar, no CPD certificate will be issued for attendance. However you are encouraged to take your own notes and allocate to another self learning category in your CPD log.

All podiatrists would be aware of their requirement to maintain adequate clinical records and undergo informed consent processes. However Guild insurance see too many cases where the standards of these two vitally important processes is below the standard expected from the Podiatry Board of Australia; sometimes well below.

This session will highlight the common mistakes made by practitioners and the implications of these errors while also providing clarity on the requirements and why these are in place.

If you are unable to attend this webinar, and you would like the recorded version, you will need to register and you will be given access to the webinar recording.
