Diabetes/Vascular Foot Assessments | Port Podiatry Clinic | Port Macquarie Podiatrist

This year’s Vascular Day offers both a refresher for past attendees and valuable new insights, practical strategies, and clinical tips for those joining us for the first time. With a focus on PAD, referral pathways, and hands-on vascular assessment, the course is designed to strengthen podiatrists' confidence in managing complex vascular presentations.

Martin Fox (UK) – Vascular-focused podiatrist delivering a dynamic, case-based webinar on PAD and CLTI, including a practical “Doppler Sound Recognition Exam.”

Joanna Scheepers – Podiatry Manager and Coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Complex Foot Service at St John of God Midland, leading clinical practice in vascular assessment and wound care.

Dr Fernando Picazo  Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Royal Perth Hospital and Hollywood Private Hospital, specialising in PAD, endovascular procedures, and open surgery of the lower limbs.

Key Themes and Highlights of the Program

(The program will be published shortly)

  • Insights into chronic venous disease, assessment techniques, and management options (to confirm).
  • Bridging Practice and Hospital Care – Learn how to identify high-risk foot cases and navigate clear referral pathwaysto hospital multidisciplinary teams, with practical tools for effective communication, triage, and patient care coordination.
  • Suspecting PAD or CLTI? Learn to assess patients in under 10 minutes using the 3Ps (Pulses, Phases, Pressures), WIFI classification, and practical tools like ABPI, ankle/toe pressures, and Doppler waveforms.

  • From Sound to Strategy: Understand when ABPI is helpful—and when it’s not—especially in diabetes. Sharpen your skills with real-world Doppler audio clips and interactive PAD/CLTI case-based discussions.

  • Wound Healing Starts with Vascular Clarity – Learn how to link vascular status to wound outcomes using the WiFi classification, and spot ischaemia as a key factor in delayed healing.

  • New This Year: Vascular Assessment Templates – Discover practical tools for documenting and interpreting vascular findings to support confident, evidence-based decisions in clinical practice.

  • Hands-On Doppler & Toe Pressure Training – Gain real-time experience with toe pressure measurement and Doppler waveform interpretation, supported by small-group practice and expert guidance.
